“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” Joseph Campbell
We all have defining moments in life. They shape us and give a reason for what we become. Below is one of mine. I share in the hopes of giving you a glimpse of who I am and why I do what I do.
My Dad died when I was 14. So many gifts came from his death and dying. Yes, I can say that, now. I am so very grateful for him. And I miss him still. I wish I would have had another choice. But, life had other plans for my dad and me. I resisted.
Yet as my life unfolded, and though I couldn’t see it, life was trying to bring me something deeper and more essential than I could imagine. It’s taken me awhile…a long while. But I am learning to ask, “What is the life seeking me?”
Wisdom traditions instruct us to listen to where life is coaxing you. A very different view than continually planning and striving. It’s not about becoming better, stronger, smarter, or an improved you. It’s about listening and learning to treat ourselves gently.
I remember once, as my dad was dying, he looked up and said, “we are all just perfect, just perfect.’ Though I couldn’t grasp the depth of what he was feeling, I knew that he was experiencing that moment, himself, those around him, and me in a state of perfection.
Though I have yet to experience a moment of perfection quite the way my dad did that day, I have come to know that we all have meaningful, beautiful lives seeking us. And though I think most of us miss it, we are all perfect: lumps, bumps and all.
And maybe, just maybe, those lumps and bumps are EXACTLY what makes us beautiful to the life that seeks us.
I think this is what life and my work are all about…living into the perfection within us and allowing the life that seeks us to come forth.
Working Together
Deciding to work with a counselor or healer is an important investment of money, time, and, mostly, yourself. Hopefully, you will find enough on these pages to get a sense of whether or not you’d like to explore further the possibility of working together.
I’ve addressed many of the typical things people ask me when making a decision. If you want to know more, please sign up for my newsletter or feel free to email me at jenniferhintonMA@gmail.com.
“Jennifer’s compassion as a healer and her gifts as a shaman has been a blessing in my life. Through song, ceremony, and medicine objects, she has taught me what it is to be connected to Spirit. That connection has empowered me to walk my path of personal power. Thank you, Jennifer, for all you share as a guide, a mentor, and a friend.”

Jennifer is a powerful guide and mentor. In the ten plus years that I have been working with her, I have found her to be an integral part of my spiritual journey. I highly recommend starting with an individual session with Jennifer or joining one of the open journey groups that she offers to get an idea of her skill and presence. She’s amazing at what she does and I’m so grateful to have her as a teacher and guide.
